                    HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.    
       BY  KOESTER, R. TAYLOR, LANDON, WATTS, BACON, HAGENOW,
                       COWNIE, DEYOE, and NUNN
  1  1 A Resolution honoring Robert Anderson, Executive Chef
  1  2    and Program Chair of the Iowa Culinary Institute at
  1  3    Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), for his
  1  4    43 years of world=renowned leadership at the Iowa
  1  5    Culinary Institute.
  1  6    WHEREAS, Chef Anderson studied at the Culinary
  1  7 Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, and began
  1  8 his career at the Broadmoor Hotel and Air Force Academy
  1  9 Officer's Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and
  1 10    WHEREAS, Chef Anderson received the prestigious
  1 11 L'Ordre des Palmes Academiques award from the French
  1 12 Republic in recognition of his service to French
  1 13 education, contribution to French culture, and
  1 14 commitment to the culinary arts; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, Chef Anderson is one of only 99 American
  1 16 chefs, and the only active chef from Iowa, inducted
  1 17 into the Honorable Order of the Golden Toque, a
  1 18 select society of distinguished culinary arts
  1 19 professionals; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, Chef Anderson created the outstanding
  1 21 Culinary Arts program at DMACC and during his tenure at
  1 22 the Iowa Culinary Institute, Chef Anderson established
  1 23 a relationship with the Cuisiniers de la Loire, an
  1 24 organization of the best chefs from France, and created
  1 25 a one=of=a=kind, 33=year=old student=and=chef=exchange
  1 26 program for teaching and student apprenticeships; and
  1 27    WHEREAS, since 1974, when Chef Anderson became
  2  1 Chair of DMACC's Culinary Arts and Hospitality Careers
  2  2 Program, most graduates of the Iowa Culinary Institute
  2  3 have stayed in Iowa or returned to Iowa after working
  2  4 in other states; and
  2  5    WHEREAS, the quality of the culinary experience in
  2  6 Iowa has been enhanced by the selfless dedication and
  2  7 exceptional expertise of Chef Anderson; NOW THEREFORE,
  2  8    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2  9 That the House of Representatives hereby honors and
  2 10 recognizes the expertise, professionalism, excellence,
  2 11 and significance of Chef Robert Anderson's contribution
  2 12 to the culinary education of several thousand students
  2 13 and to the culinary innovation throughout Iowa,
  2 14 something Iowans enjoy every day.
