Section 92.17, subsection 1, Code 2015, is 1 2 amended to read as follows: 1 3 1. Any part=time, occasional, or volunteer work for 1 4 nonprofit organizations generally recognized as educational, 1 5 charitable, religious, or community service in nature. For 1 6 purposes of this subsection, "occasional" means, unless 1 7 otherwise prohibited by federal law, a period lasting up to six 1 8 weeks, during which a child may work up to eight hours in one 1 9 day and up to forty hours in one week. A child under sixteen 1 10 years of age employed or volunteering outside school hours 1 11 shall not work more than four hours in a day in which school is 1 12 in session during such period. 1 13 EXPLANATION 1 14 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 1 15 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. 1 16 The state child labor law currently does not prohibit a child 1 17 from any part=time, occasional, or volunteer work for nonprofit 1 18 organizations generally recognized as educational, charitable, 1 19 religious, or community service in nature.
