H.F. 474 Section 1. MUNICIPAL YOUTH SPORTS INJURY PREVENTION STUDY 1 AND REPORT. 2 1. A municipal youth sports injury prevention study is 3 established to make recommendations regarding how cities can 4 most effectively prevent concussions and other sports-related 5 injuries in children participating in municipal youth 6 sports programs. The national center for sports safety is 7 requested to administer the study in coordination with the 8 department of public health and interested parties representing 9 cities, municipal youth sports programs, parents, coaches, 10 trainers, and other stakeholders. The study shall include 11 recommendations for safety equipment for participants and 12 training for employees and volunteers to be required by cities 13 as part of municipal youth sports programs. 14 2. The national center for sports safety is requested to 15 submit a report on its findings and recommendations to the 16 general assembly by January 10, 2014. 17 EXPLANATION 18 This bill establishes a municipal youth sports injury 19 prevention study to make recommendations regarding how cities 20 can most effectively prevent sports-related injuries in 21 children participating in municipal youth sports programs.
