  3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

  1  1    Section 1.  Section 92.6, subsection 1, paragraph c, Code
  1  2 2017, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    c.  Processing occupations, including laundering, except
  1  4 in a retail, food service, or gasoline service establishment
  1  5 in those specific occupations expressly permitted under the
  1  6 provisions of section 92.5.
  1  7    Sec. 2.  Section 92.8, subsection 18, Code 2017, is amended
  1  8 to read as follows:
  1  9    18.  Occupations involving the operation of laundry, dry
  1 10 cleaning, or dyeing machinery.
  1 11                           EXPLANATION
  1 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 13 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 14    Current law prohibits persons under 18 years of age from
  1 15 employment in occupations involving the operation of laundry
  1 16 machinery. This bill provides that only persons under 16
  1 17 years of age will be prohibited from employment in laundering
  1 18 occupations.
