  1  1    Section 1.  HEALTH AND RESILIENCE OUTREACH (HERO) PROJECT
  1  2 ==== APPROPRIATION.  There is appropriated from the general fund
  1  3 of the state to the department on aging for the fiscal year
  1  4 beginning July 1, 2017, and ending June 30, 2018, the following
  1  5 amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, for the purposes
  1  6 designated:
  1  7 For the public purpose of providing a grant to an
  1  8 organization that is the Iowa chapter of a national nonprofit
  1  9 organization that is the leading voluntary health organization
  1 10 in Alzheimer's care, support, and research and provides
  1 11 vital services, education, and support to people living with
  1 12 Alzheimer's as well as their family members and caregivers,
  1 13 to  implement and expand the volunteer health and resilience
  1 14 outreach (HERO) project:

  1 16    The moneys appropriated in this section shall be used
  1 17 for volunteer recruitment, volunteer training, and respite
  1 18 scholarships to maintain caregiver resilience and to keep the
  1 19 person diagnosed with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia
  1 20 in the person's own home for a longer period of time than would
  1 21 otherwise be possible.
  1 22                           EXPLANATION
  1 23 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 24 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 25    This bill appropriates moneys from the general fund of the
  1 26 state to the department on aging for FY 2017=2018 for the
  1 27 public purpose of providing a grant to an organization that
  1 28 is the Iowa chapter of a national nonprofit organization that
  1 29 is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's
  1 30 care, support, and research and provides vital services,
  1 31 education, and support to people living with Alzheimer's as
  1 32 well as their family members and caregivers, to  implement and
  1 33 expand the volunteer health and resilience outreach (HERO)
  1 34 project.  The moneys appropriated shall be used for volunteer
  1 35 recruitment, volunteer training, and respite scholarships to
  2  1 maintain caregiver resilience and to keep the person diagnosed
