  1  1    Section 1.  Section 272.2, subsection 17, Code 2015, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    17.  Adopt rules to require that a background investigation
  1  4 be conducted by the division of criminal investigation of the
  1  5 department of public safety on all initial applicants for
  1  6 licensure. The board shall also require all initial applicants
  1  7 to submit a completed fingerprint packet and shall use the
  1  8 packet to facilitate a national criminal history background
  1  9 check. The board shall have access to, and shall review
  1 10 the sex offender registry information under section 692A.121
  1 11 available to the general public, information in the Iowa court
  1 12 information system available to the general public, the central
  1 13 registry for child abuse information established under chapter
  1 14 235A, and the dependent adult abuse records maintained under
  1 15 chapter 235B for information regarding applicants for license
  1 16 renewal.

  1 18 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 19 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 20    This bill adds, to the information the board of educational
  1 21 examiners is required to review regarding applicants for
  1 22 license renewal, information in the Iowa court information
  1 23 system available to the general public.
