Section
1.
Section
80.44,
Code
2024,
is
amended
by
adding
1
the
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION
.
3.
A
county
sheriff’s
office
without
3
digital
radios
compatible
with
the
statewide
interoperable
4
communications
system
shall
receive
moneys
from
the
fund
5
transferred
pursuant
to
this
Act,
to
be
distributed
at
the
6
discretion
of
the
statewide
interoperable
communications
7
system
board
established
in
section
80.28,
for
the
purpose
of
8
purchasing
such
digital
radios.
All
county
sheriff’s
offices
9
shall
have
compatible
digital
radios
by
July
1,
2026.
10
Sec.
2.
TRANSFER.
For
the
fiscal
year
beginning
July
1,
11
2024,
and
ending
June
30,
2025,
there
is
transferred
from
the
12
911
emergency
communications
fund
created
in
section
34A.7A
to
13
the
public
safety
interoperable
and
broadband
communications
14
fund
created
in
section
80.44,
the
following
amount:

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does

constitute

This
bill
relates
to
the
statewide
interoperable

communications
system
and
digital
radios
for
county
sheriff’s
21
offices.

The
bill
requires
the
statewide
interoperable
communications
23
system
board
to
distribute
moneys
to
county
sheriff’s
24
offices
without
digital
radios
compatible
with
the
statewide
25
interoperable
communications
system.
All
county
sheriff’s
26
offices
shall
have
compatible
digital
radios
by
July
1,
2026.
27
The
bill
transfers
$750,000
from
the
911
emergency
28
communications
fund
to
the
public
safety
interoperable
and
29
broadband
communications
fund
to
assist
county
sheriff’s
30
offices
in
purchasing
compatible
digital
radios.
