Section
1.
Section
321.194,
subsection
1,
unnumbered

paragraph
1,
Code
2020,
is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

The
department
may
issue
a
class
C
or
M
driver’s
license
to
a

person
between
the
ages
of
fourteen
fifteen
and
eighteen
years
4
if
all
of
the
following
apply:

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
7
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

Under
current
law,
the
department
of
transportation
may
9
issue
a
class
C
or
M
special
minor’s
driver’s
license
to
a
10
person
between
the
ages
of
14
and
18
years
under
certain
11
conditions.
This
bill
increases
the
minimum
age
to
15
years.
12
A
person
who
is
age
14
is
still
eligible
for
an
instruction
13
permit
under
Code
section
321.180B
and
a
motorized
bicycle
14
license
under
Code
section
321.189(7).
