House File 2150 - Introduced HOUSE FILE 2150 BY COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION (SUCCESSOR TO HSB 570) A BILL FOR An Act eliminating a requirement related to obtaining a 1 transitional coaching authorization from the board of 2 educational examiners. 3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: 4 TLSB 5354HV (1) 90 jda/jh
H.F. 2150 Section 1. Section 256.165, subsection 1, paragraph 1 b, subparagraph (1), Code 2024, is amended by striking the 2 subparagraph. 3 EXPLANATION 4 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 5 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 6 This bill eliminates a requirement related to obtaining 7 a transitional coaching authorization from the board of 8 educational examiners (BOEE). Current law requires an 9 individual to complete a shortened course of training relating 10 to the code of professional rights and responsibilities, 11 practices, and ethics developed by the BOEE for transitional 12 coaches before the individual can obtain a transitional 13 coaching authorization. The bill strikes this requirement. 14 The bill does not affect other requirements associated with 15 obtaining a transitional coaching authorization, including 16 requirements related to completion of child and dependent adult 17 abuse mandatory reporter training, completion of concussion 18 in youth sports training, and compliance with background 19 investigation requirements. 20 -1- LSB 5354HV (1) 90 jda/jh 1/ 1
