is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

a.
Arranging,
braiding,
dressing,
curling,
waving,
press

and
curl
hair
straightening,
shampooing,
cutting,
singeing,

bleaching,
coloring,
or
similar
works,
upon
the
hair
of
any
5
person,
or
upon
a
wig
or
hairpiece
when
done
in
conjunction
6
with
haircutting
or
hairstyling
by
any
means.
Cosmetology
7
does
not
include
braiding
the
hair
of
any
person
or
a
wig
or
8
hairpiece.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
eliminates
the
term
“braiding”
from
the
definition
13
of
cosmetology.
Generally,
a
person
practicing
cosmetology
14
on
a
more
than
casual
basis,
regardless
of
whether
the
person
15
is
compensated,
is
required
to
be
licensed
with
the
board
of
16
cosmetology
arts
and
sciences.
