APPROPRIATION.
There
is
appropriated
to
the
office
of

long-term
care
ombudsman
from
the
general
fund
of
the
state
for

the
fiscal
year
beginning
July
1,
2014,
and
ending
June
30,
4
2015,
the
following
amount
or
so
much
thereof
as
is
necessary
5
to
be
used
for
the
purposes
designated:

To
provide
two
additional
local
long-term
care
ombudsmen
7
including
administrative
support
to
fulfill
the
duties
8
specified
pursuant
to
section
231.42:

It
is
the
intent
of
the
general
assembly
that
local
long-term

care
ombudsmen
protect
residents
and
tenants
of
long-term
care

facilities
from
abuse,
neglect,
and
financial
exploitation;

and
focus
on
providing
information
and
assistance
to
residents
14
and
tenants
in
understanding
and
maintaining
their
rights
15
throughout
the
involuntary
discharge
process.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
local
long-term
care
ombudsmen.
The

bill
makes
an
appropriation
to
the
office
of
long-term
care
21
ombudsman
from
the
general
fund
of
the
state
for
fiscal
year
22
2014-2015
to
provide
two
additional
local
long-term
care
23
ombudsmen
including
administrative
support
to
fulfill
the
24
duties
of
the
local
long-term
care
ombudsmen
as
specified
25
by
law,
focusing
on
providing
information
and
support
to
26
residents
and
tenants
of
long-term
care
facilities
regarding
27
the
involuntary
discharge
process.
