Section
1.
Section
148C.3,
subsection
2,
Code
2011,
is
1
amended
to
read
as
follows:

2.
Rules
shall
be
adopted
by
the
board
pursuant
to
this
3
chapter
requiring
a
licensed
physician
assistant
to
be
4
supervised
by
physicians.
The
rules
shall
provide
that
not
5
more
than
two
five
physician
assistants
shall
be
supervised
by
6
a
physician
at
one
time.
The
rules
shall
also
provide
that
7
a
physician
assistant
shall
notify
the
board
of
the
identity
8
of
the
physician
assistant’s
supervising
physician
and
of
any
9
change
in
the
status
of
the
supervisory
relationship.

EXPLANATION

Under
current
law,
a
physician
assistant
must
work
under
12
the
supervision
of
a
licensed
physician,
and
a
licensed
13
physician
is
allowed
to
supervise
no
more
than
two
physician
14
assistants
at
one
time.
This
bill
allows
a
licensed
physician
15
to
supervise
up
to
five
physician
assistants
at
one
time.
