Section 481A.48, Code 2017, is amended by adding 1 2 the following new subsection: 1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 6. The commission shall adopt rules to 1 4 prohibit the use of any shot other than nontoxic shot approved 1 5 by the United States fish and wildlife service for hunting 1 6 mourning doves or Eurasian collared doves. 1 7 Sec. 2. Section 805.8B, subsection 3, paragraph h, Code 1 8 2017, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 1 9 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH. 6. Use of other than nontoxic shot for 1 10 hunting doves, the scheduled fine is twenty=five dollars. 1 11 EXPLANATION 1 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 1 13 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. 1 14 This bill requires the natural resource commission to adopt 1 15 rules to prohibit the use of any shot other than nontoxic shot 1 16 approved by the United States fish and wildlife service for 1 17 hunting mourning doves or Eurasian collared doves. A violation 1 18 of the bill's provisions is punishable as a scheduled offense 1 19 with a fine of $25. LSB 1883YH (3) 87 av/nh
