  1  1    Section 1.  Section 103.15, subsection 4, Code 2017, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    4.  For purposes of this section, "the direct personal
  1  4 on=the=job supervision and control and in the immediate presence
  1  5 of a licensee" shall mean the licensee and the apprentice
  1  6 electrician or unclassified person shall be working at the same
  1  7 project location for a minimum of twenty=five percent of each
  1  8 day's work period but shall not require that the licensee and
  1  9 apprentice electrician or unclassified person be within sight
  1 10 of one another at all times during that entire period of time.
  1 11                           EXPLANATION
  1 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 13 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 14    Under current Code section 103.15, subsection 3, an
  1 15 apprentice electrician or unclassified person is required to
  1 16 be in the presence of a licensed electrician at all times to
  1 17 perform electrical wiring. This bill amends the definition
  1 18 of "the direct personal on=the=job supervision and control
  1 19 and in the immediate presence of a licensee" to require the
  1 20 licensed electrician to be present for a minimum of 25 percent
  1 21 of each day's work period for the apprentice electrician or
  1 22 unclassified person to perform electrical wiring.
