RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mrs. Eunice Hines Adams; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Mrs. Eunice Hines Adams on December 17, 2011;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Eunice Hines Adams was born on June 3, 1926, in Whigham, Georgia, a beloved
daughter of the late Genie Hadley and Reverend Matthew Hines; and
WHEREAS,
"Peepsie," as she was affectionately called, graduated from Spelman College with
a degree in Home Economics in 1947 and did further studies on her Master's
degree from the University of Georgia, Wayne State University, and Albany State
College; and
WHEREAS,
growing up in a home with a father as a minister, her Christian foundation was
forged at an early age; and
WHEREAS,
she was united in marriage to the late John Wesley Adams and later to the late
George McBride; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Adams was blessed with two remarkable sons, E. Bruce Adams and Brent E.
Adams; two wonderful grandchildren, Amari A. Adams and Senetra Frazier; and two
adored great-grandchildren, Alexander and Siehera Moody, and
WHEREAS,
she was the interim director of South Georgia Title 20 Program for Youth, a
member of the Pride of Bainbridge Chapter 479 Order of the Eastern Star, and
director of the Nelson Chapel Day Care Center, where she touched the lives of
many young people in Decatur County; and
WHEREAS,
she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she
demonstrated to her family and friends were admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example she made of
her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous woman, Mrs. Adams will long be remembered for her
love of family and friendship, and this loyal daughter, wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend will be missed by all who had the
great fortune of knowing her.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
honoring the life and memory of Mrs. Eunice Hines Adams and express their
deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mrs. Eunice
Hines Adams.
