A RESOLUTION


Commending Mr. Ernest L. Wilder for his outstanding public service; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Ernest L. Wilder has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of this nation; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Wilder served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with 30 years in the United States military, valiantly and courageously protecting democracy as a supervisor at Warner Robins Air Force Material Command; and

WHEREAS, a native of Upson County, Georgia, Mr. Wilder graduated from Drake High School in 1963 and was a talented and recognized athlete, playing semi-professional basketball for two years and semi-professional baseball for eight years; and

WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy to the congregation of Salem Baptist Church, serving as an inspiration and pillar of strength; and

WHEREAS, dedicated to improving the lives of his neighbors, Mr. Wilder serves as the assistant fire chief for the Salem Volunteer Fire Department and is a past president of Salem Civic Org., Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Wilder has been united in love and marriage to his supportive wife, Bernice, for 40 wonderful years, and has been blessed with the love of his daughter, Regina, and grandson, Denzel; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting that this body express its appreciation to Mr. Wilder for the great credit he reflects on his community and this state.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize Mr. Ernest L. Wilder for 30 years of service to his community and country.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Ernest L. Wilder.
