RESOLUTION
Commending
Leadership Habersham on the occasion of its 20th anniversary; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
established 20 years ago, Leadership Habersham is a community based organization
committed to identifying, educating, and training a diverse mix of community
leaders to meet the challenges of today with the solutions of tomorrow;
and
WHEREAS,
created and sponsored by the Habersham Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Habersham
is composed of Habersham County business and community leaders united to build a
better community for everyone in the region and committed to the common good of
serving the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
participants in Leadership Habersham are afforded courses and a curriculum which
provide a comprehensive understanding and awareness of current and future issues
in government, natural resources, economic development, education, health, and
human needs in Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
since Leadership Habersham's creation, the program has had 300 graduates who
have gone on to play leading roles as political, business, and civic leaders;
and
WHEREAS,
alumni of Leadership Habersham include county commissioners, mayors, city
council members, small and large business leaders, state and local government
employees, utility employees, education leaders, and leaders in the field of
health and human services; and
WHEREAS,
current and past members of Leadership Habersham are committed to the
organization's goals of identifying and selecting emerging and existing leaders
in the county, educating and informing these leaders about major community
issues, assisting these leaders in developing and enhancing their skills and
abilities, and inspiring and providing opportunities for them to lead their
communities; and
WHEREAS,
through its many project initiatives, Leadership Hambersham has distinctively
served the community and citizens of Habersham County and the many businesses
and nonprofit organizations of the county.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Leadership Habersham for 20 years of developing the leaders of this state and
recognize the organization for its dedicated efforts to make Habersham County a
better place to live and work.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Habersham Chamber of
Commerce.
