RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. James M. Baker III; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. James M. Baker III has long been recognized for the vital role he has played
in leadership and his dedication to Clayton State University; and
WHEREAS,
a 1976 graduate of Clayton Junior College, Mr. Baker has devoted years to
promoting education and supporting his alma mater; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Baker is one of Metropolitan Atlanta's foremost real estate developers and
serves as president of Chaseland Corporation and Baker & Lassiter;
and
WHEREAS,
his leadership and guidance have been instrumental as a member of Clayton State
University's School of Technology Advisory Committee, and he was named
Outstanding Alumni for the university in 2004; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of his years of unwavering support, Clayton State University has
renamed its university center the James M. Baker University Center in his honor;
and
WHEREAS,
opened in 2004, the university center holds classrooms, meeting rooms, offices
for faculty, administration, and student organizations, the University's College
of Information and Mathematical Sciences, dining services, the campus bookstore,
the campus help desk, and more than 2,000 data drops; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of his contributions to the students of Clayton State University,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary commitment and
accomplishments of this outstanding individual be honored.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
Mr. James M. Baker III for his outstanding contributions to the students in this
state and his community and extend to him best wishes for the near and distant
future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. James M. Baker III.
