RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Roswell Fire Department; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the firefighters of the Roswell Fire Department are highly regarded by the
citizens of this state and the local community as officers of unwavering
compassion and conviction who are dedicated to protecting lives and property;
and
WHEREAS,
the Roswell Fire Department has continuously supported efforts to help others
and have been instrumental in increasing the public's awareness of worthy
causes; and
WHEREAS,
the department was recently recognized as the Top Collector by the Georgia
Firefighter's Burn Foundation during their 2011 Boot Drive, collecting $68,075;
and
WHEREAS,
the department also placed first in the amount of money collected per
firefighter during the 2011 Boot Drive, with $489.75 per person collected;
and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Firefighter's Burn Foundation presents programs on Juvenile Fire
Setters Intervention, Public Fire Safety Education, and Burn Prevention and
contribute to burn centers across the state; and
WHEREAS,
money from the annual boot drive is used to fund a camp for burn survivors,
allowing children with burn injuries to interact with other children who can
relate and share experiences in a safe and caring environment; and
WHEREAS,
ten percent of the money collected by the Roswell Fire Department during the
2011 Boot Drive is used to purchase Fire Safety Educational materials for the
department; and
WHEREAS,
the selfless and generous dedication to improving the lives of burn victims
demonstrated by the firefighters of the Roswell Fire Department is worthy of
recognition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize the care, fortitude, and dedication exhibited by the firefighters of the Roswell Fire Department in protecting the lives of Roswell citizens and commend them for their selfless service to burn victims.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Roswell Fire Department
Fire Chief Ricky Spencer.
