Resolution 884
By:
Senator Albers of the 56th
A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
Bridging the Gap of Georgia (BTGG); and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Bridging the Gap of Georgia is an organization that accepts homeless veterans
from the streets into its unique and effective Bridges program; and
WHEREAS,
BTGG helps the homeless heroes, through a mentoring program, to regain their
dignity and become self-sufficient again by assisting them in finding employment
while working with them to help bridge the barriers of society that have
prevented them from succeeding; and
WHEREAS,
the program is proving, with its 98 percent success rate, that these individuals
can return to being productive members of society; and
WHEREAS,
Executive Director Keith Laseter, a veteran of the United States Army and a
recovering drug addict and alcoholic, started this nonprofit organization
because of his own personal experiences; and
WHEREAS,
changing humanity one individual at a time, Bridging the Gap of Georgia empowers
men and women who have served in the military to work hard so they can return to
a dignified and fulfilling life; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the contributions of Bridging the Gap
of Georgia be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
and commend the dedicated efforts of Keith Laseter and Bridging the Gap of
Georgia in helping homeless veterans get a fresh start.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Bridging the Gap of
Georgia.
