RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Major Terry Enoch; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Major Terry Enoch is highly regarded by the citizens of this state and by local
government officials as a person of unquestioned integrity and dedication to the
sound principles of law enforcement; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of the Georgia State Law Enforcement Police Academy at Armstrong
State College, Major Enoch earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from
Savannah State University and a master's degree in public administration from
Columbus State University; and
WHEREAS,
he has dedicated nearly 25 years to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, where
he has served with honor and distinction as an enforcement operations
administrator within the Enforcement Bureau; and
WHEREAS,
during his tenure with the Sheriff's Office, Major Enoch has implemented a
public building security assessment program for government facilities in
Savannah-Chatham County, established a Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs unit to
conduct employee background checks and investigate allegations of malfeasance,
and established a career enhancement program for courthouse deputies;
and
WHEREAS,
Major Enoch is an active member of the Savannah Chapters of the National Forum
for Public Administrators and 100 Black Men of America, the Savannah Alumni
Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, the Speaker's Bureau for St.
Joseph's/Candler African American Health Information and Resource Center, and
the Board of Directors for Con-Ed Family Resource Center; and
WHEREAS,
Major Enoch's commitment to his community and this state have been recognized
with honors such as Outstanding Georgia Citizen of the Year in 2006 from
Secretary of State Cathy Cox, a 2001 Man of the Year Award from the Savannah
Chapter of 100 Black Men of America, and a 2003 President's Award and a 1998
City League Coach of the Year Award from the Savannah Alumni Chapter of Kappa
Alpha Psi; and
WHEREAS,
Major Enoch has exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty, outstanding loyalty,
fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail in all his duties, and his
efficient and effective commitment to excellence has been continually recognized
by his peers; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the members of this body show their
gratitude for the unique and often unheralded contributions of Major Enoch and
all local law enforcement officers on behalf of the citizens of this
state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
unanimously commend the selfless dedication exhibited by Major Terry Enoch in
carrying out the difficult duties of his vocation for so many years and extend
to him their utmost appreciation for having so purely and truly defined for
others the meaning of public servant.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Major Terry Enoch.
