A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Keep Clayton County Beautiful; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Keep Clayton County Beautiful is dedicated to improving the lives of Clayton
County residents through environmental initiatives, neighborhood clean-up
drives, and educational programs; and
WHEREAS,
Keep Clayton County Beautiful established a county-wide school recycling
program, in which all 62 county schools participate in recycling newspaper,
school paper, catalogs, magazines, and cardboard boxes; and
WHEREAS,
in 2009, 14 Clayton County schools participated in Keep Clayton County
Beautiful's litter measurement program, providing students with the opportunity
to see how much waste is generated on a daily basis, giving them a visual
reminder to conserve and recycle; and
WHEREAS,
Keep Clayton County Beautiful participates in the annual Great American Cleanup
program, which encourages neighbors to pick up debris and trash from their own
streets, and greatly increased the number of volunteer participants with their
outreach and promotion of the event in 2009; and
WHEREAS,
members of Keep Clayton County Beautiful work diligently with local businesses,
local leaders, government officials, community members, educators, and others
that share the common goal of making Clayton County the cleanest and most
environmentally friendly county in this state; and
WHEREAS,
community recycling and conservation are two major areas Keep Clayton County
Beautiful promotes with individuals and communities; and
WHEREAS,
the board members of Keep Clayton County Beautiful include dedicated
individuals: President Frank Rezek, Vice President Randall Toussaint, Secretary
Roxanne Hose, Treasurer Michael Ellis, Robert L. Mack, Edith P. Yongue, and
Vickie Jacobs; and
WHEREAS,
the outstanding efforts of Keep Clayton County Beautiful and its many devoted
members to protecting the environment for future generations are worthy of
recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Keep Clayton County Beautiful on promoting clean and healthy neighborhoods in
Clayton County.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Keep Clayton County
Beautiful.
