RESOLUTION
Congratulating
Honorable Jack Longino upon his re-election as mayor of the City of College
Park; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Honorable Jack Longino was recently re-elected to serve as mayor of the City of
College Park, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Longino has served as College Park's mayor since 1996, and is the third
generation of Longinos to hold public office for College Park; and
WHEREAS,
he has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role
that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare
of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
during his years of service to College Park, Mayor Longino has created an
atmosphere in city government which allows citizens to participate and
capitalize on the city's position as gateway to the busiest international
airport in the world; and
WHEREAS,
he has diligently and conscientiously served the City of College Park, a diverse
community with deep roots to financial and commercial developers;
and
WHEREAS,
this dedicated public servant has devoted numerous hours of his time, talents,
and energy to improving the lives of his neighbors through his efforts as mayor
and as a community leader; and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Longino is a member of the Historic College Park Neighborhood Association,
College Park Historical Society, and Tri-Cities High School PTSA;
and
WHEREAS,
he is committed to increasing economic development in College Park and
increasing collaboration with neighboring governments through his membership in
the College Park Business & Industrial Development Authority, Old National
Merchants Association, South Fulton Chamber of Commerce, Metro Atlanta Chamber
of Commerce, Airport Area Chamber of Commerce, and the South Fulton Municipal
Association; and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Longino's foresight, vision, and leadership skills have earned him the
respect of his colleagues and associates and his commitment to making the City
of College Park the best city in this state is worthy of
recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Honorable Jack Longino on many contributions to the City of College Park, Fulton
County, and the State of Georgia, and extend to him congratulations on his new
position as mayor.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Honorable Jack Longino.
