A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Gloria Walden on the occasion of her retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Gloria Walden has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in the teaching profession and her deep personal commitment to the education of the students of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she graduated from Gordon High School in Decatur and attended Clayton State University; and

WHEREAS, her teaching career started when she volunteered at her daughter's school which led her to work for the Clayton County School System; and

WHEREAS, she began working at Mt. Zion Elementary School as a kindergarten paraprofessional in 1979 and transferred to Anderson Elementary School where she continued until 1983, when she was then transferred to Kilpatrick Elementary School, and her career also included teaching at Edmonds and Swint Elementary Schools, Lovejoy Middle School, and Lovejoy and Mt. Zion High Schools; and

WHEREAS, she has been blessed with two remarkable children, Lisa Cox and Chris Walden, and two adored grandchildren, Candace and Emily; and

WHEREAS, Gloria Walden has dedicated over 30 years to molding young minds and challenging students to achieve their utmost potential through her work in the field of education; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her contributions to the students in this state, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body heartily and gratefully commend Gloria Walden for her sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia, recognize the positive influence she has had upon the lives and futures of countless young people in this state, and congratulate her on the occasion of her well-deserved retirement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Gloria Walden.
