A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Pamela L. Tremayne; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Pamela L. Tremayne on October 30, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Pamela L. Tremayne had a vibrant personality in Atlanta for 40-some years; and

WHEREAS, she moved upward in her pursuits both professionally, as an attorney, and as a devoted volunteer; and

WHEREAS, she was a leader and held positions for the Atlanta Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia, long served as the president of the International Club of Atlanta, and was a board member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters; and

WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example she made of her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, Pamela L. Tremayne received numerous degrees, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology, her Master's degree in Latin American studies, and her Ph.D. in sociology; and

WHEREAS, she will always be remembered for her balance of life and always giving back to the community and represented a true inspiration to building a greater community.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Pamela L. Tremayne and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Pamela L. Tremayne.
