A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the difficult economic times facing this nation and pledging that the recovery
efforts begin now and in Georgia; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the economic downturn is having a critical impact on Americans who are
struggling to maintain or find jobs in an increasingly difficult environment;
and
WHEREAS,
many Georgians are having difficulty making ends meet in these exceptionally
historic and challenging times; and
WHEREAS,
the great State of Georgia offers an abundance of natural resources, grown and
produced locally, that have the ability to sustain and uplift the economy of
this state; and
WHEREAS,
the travel and tourism industries play a vital role in Georgia's economic
prosperity, offering natural beauty and exciting attractions to visitors from
around the world to enjoy; and
WHEREAS,
recent success stories such as the KIA Motors manufacturing plant exhibit our
ability to attract the next generation of worldwide manufacturing excellence;
and
WHEREAS,
Suniva Corporation's decision to locate a state of the art solar panel
manufacturing facility in Georgia is evidence of Georgia's commitment to
technology and energy innovation; and
WHEREAS,
Georgia's home-grown recognized industry leaders such as AFLAC, Gulfstream
Aerospace Corporation, Coca-Cola Company, Home Depot, and others continue to
experience great growth and success; and
WHEREAS,
the people and businesses of Georgia have a rich history of steadfast
determination, innovative vision, and a persistent entrepreneurial spirit which
will help them endure through this challenging economy and emerge stronger and
more successful than ever; and
WHEREAS,
despite the strenuous issues facing this state and nation, Georgia citizens,
ready to confront any problem, and the State of Georgia hereby pledge that the
economic recovery process for this country starts today and in
Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body pledge to
begin the recovery process to return stability to the economy and provide hope
and peace to each and every citizen.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to members of the public and
the press.
