RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Terry Chandler; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Terry Chandler's dedication to environmentally sound farming principles and
practices have earned him the Governor's Agricultural Environmental Stewardship
Award; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Chandler and his wife, Deborah, bought over 200 acres of farmland in Madison
County in 1987, and since then the family has transformed a farm that was
stripped of all of its resources and turned it into a sustainable farming
enterprise; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Chandler's Still Water Farm in Danielsville has been restored to one of the
most environmentally friendly family farms in the State of Georgia and is a
point of pride for all of Madison County; and
WHEREAS,
not only committed to preserving the land and resources on his farm, Mr.
Chandler utilizes best practices that have improved soil and water quality of
the land and provided a refuge for a thriving wildlife population;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Chandler has been blessed with three children, Robert, Jennifer, and
Kimberly, who have all helped make Still Water a success; and
WHEREAS,
passionate about inspiring young Georgians to enter the farming and land
stewardship industries, Mr. Chandler has been instrumental in the creation of
Madison County's ag-center and has greatly contributed to the success of the
local middle and high school FFA livestock programs; and
WHEREAS,
the outstanding work of Mr. Chandler as a caretaker of the land and his desire
to preserve an environmental legacy for future generations are worthy of
recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mr. Terry Chandler for his dedication to serving as a steward to land and the
environment and extend their most sincere congratulations on his recognition
with a Governor's Agricultural Environmental Stewardship Award.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Terry Chandler.
