A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation for customer service,
community focused activities, and ethical business practices; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation was established in 1938 to meet the
electrical needs of the citizens in North Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation serves the citizens in seven of Georgia's
159 counties, including Cherokee, Dawson, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, and
Lumpkin; and
WHEREAS,
the corporation presently provides electricity to over 147,000 homes and
businesses, of which 1,454 were new members added in 2011; and
WHEREAS,
the corporation continues to demonstrate sound judgement in its business
practice; and
WHEREAS,
Sawnee EMC played an instrumental role in meeting the economic development needs
of the communities it serves.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
and commend Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation on its continued excellent
service and wish its members and employees the best for the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Sawnee Electric Membership
Corporation.
