A.J. Garing, and Ben Logan Sisk; and

over the years, the band and music program have expanded to include an
orchestra, a jazz band, chamber ensembles, and an electronic percussion
ensemble, with the opportunity to perform around the state, nation, and
overseas; and
WHEREAS,
the year 2008 marked the 100th anniversary of the Georgia Tech Band;
and
WHEREAS,
in honor of its centennial, the band performed in the annual Macy's Thanksgiving
Day Parade in New York City and was one of only two collegiate bands invited to
appear in the 2008 parade; and
WHEREAS,

the streets of Manhattan on Thursday, November 27, 2008, before more than 46

WHEREAS,
throughout its 100 year history, culminating with a dazzling performance in
Herald Square in November, the Georgia Tech Band has brought pride, honor, and
esteem to Georgia Tech and the great State of Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending the Georgia Tech Band on its 100th anniversary and for its
