A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Metropolitan Atlanta Violence Prevention Partnership; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Atlanta Violence Prevention Partnership (MAVPP) is focused on strengthening families through sharing information, encouraging effective policies, and maximizing resources by working in collaboration; and

WHEREAS, the work of MAVPP is guided by working norms and values that set a framework for strengthening relationships; and

WHEREAS, MAVPP follows a science driven set of violence prevention principles, PeaceBuilders principles, and strategies and activities that are dictated by youth; and

WHEREAS, MAVPP prevents violence by teaching respect and consideration for and towards others, encouraging openness and honesty in all interactions, and promoting teamwork; and

WHEREAS, participants of MAVPP are taught to balance personal interests with the interests of others, learn to practice active listening, engage in strategic thinking and planning, and learn to honor commitments, be responsible, and celebrate accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding work of this fine organization and its numerous contributions to the citizens of this state be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the work of the Metropolitan Atlanta Violence Prevention Partnership in preventing violence and teaching alternative methods of coping to the youth of Atlanta.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Metropolitan Atlanta Violence Prevention Partnership.
