A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Macon Chapter of the Georgia Prince Hall Shriners and Daughters of Isis; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Macon Chapter of the Georgia Prince Hall Shriners and Daughters of Isis is a committed and dedicated organization which provides and supports community activities throughout the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the Imperial Council of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine of North and South America and Its Jurisdiction, Incorporated, is a benevolent, charitable, educational, and fraternal organization of Prince Hall Shriners; and

WHEREAS, the organization was established on June 3, 1893, by Nobel John G. Jones and has been active in numerous charitable and civic organizations over the last two centuries; and

WHEREAS, the society has a worldwide membership of approximately 35,000 in 227 temples and 200 courts throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, temples are also located around the globe in Canada, Germany, Italy, England, Turkey, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Okinawa, the Bahamas, and parts of the Middle East; and

WHEREAS, the organization has diligently and conscientiously worked on projects to uplift the lives of others, including providing grants for scholarships, endorsing the Assault On Illiteracy Program, the establishment of a Prince Hall Shrine Health and Medical Research Foundation, and providing financial aid in the fight against drugs, crime, and juvenile delinquency; and

WHEREAS, the oragnization provides financial support to the NAACP, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and the United Negro College Fund; and

WHEREAS, this exemplary civic organization and all of its outstanding members have given generously of their time and assets, thereby accomplishing great missions, contributing tremendously to the quality of life in their community, and bringing honor and credit to the Prince Hall Shriners and Daughters of Isis.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Macon Chapter of the Georgia Prince Hall Shriners and Daughters of Isis on its many contributions to the Macon community and the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to Noble James Johnson and Daughter Dorothy J. Jackson.
