RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Ms. Bettina Polite-Tate, Savannah-Chatham County School System's
Teacher of the Year for 2010-2011; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Bettina Polite-Tate, marketing and IB business management teacher at Sol C.
Johnson High School, is widely recognized throughout her community and this
state as the personification of excellence in education; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of her outstanding dedication to academic achievement, Ms.
Polite-Tate has been named Savannah-Chatham County School System's Teacher of
the Year for 2010-2011; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of Sol C. Johnson High School, Ms. Polite-Tate earned a bachelor's
degree in business administration and a master's degree in public administration
from Savannah State University; and
WHEREAS,
she also earned a specialist's degree in educational leadership from Mercer
University, where she is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in educational
leadership; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Polite-Tate serves on the Governor's Education Advisory Board, is
co-chairperson of the Career Tech Department, and serves as site coordinator for
High Schools That Work; and
WHEREAS,
she inspires and encourages her students as primary DECA advisor and the Student
Leadership Program's teacher advisor; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Polite-Tate has been recognized with numerous honors and accolades during
her teaching career, including the Savannah-Chatham County Public School
System's District Teacher of the Year in 2011, Georgia Marketing Teacher of the
Year in 2011, and one of the Georgia Top Ten Teachers of the Year in 2011;
and
WHEREAS, nothing is more vital to the future of our state than the education of our young people, and during her teaching career, Ms. Polite-Tate has exemplified the selfless dedication and professionalism which are characteristic of our finest educators; and

WHEREAS,
it is appropriate that this body join in expressing appreciation to Ms.
Polite-Tate for her outstanding efforts and accomplishments in
education.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
congratulate Ms. Bettina Polite-Tate upon her selection as Teacher of the Year
and express gratitude for the great credit this fine educator reflects upon the
Savannah-Chatham County School System and the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Bettina Polite-Tate.
