A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of Mr. Ronald E. Carter; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the untimely passing of Mr. Ronald E. Carter on August 30, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Carter was born in 1941 in Porterdale, Georgia, a beloved son of John and Kathleen Carter; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Carter was known throughout his community as a prestigious, intelligent, and trustworthy banker while at First National Bank, Bank of Covington, Main Street, BB&T, and at his current position of vice president at United Bank; and

WHEREAS, he was a devoted man of faith and civic leader as a member of First Baptist Church of Covington, a member and past president of the Covington Rotary Club, and a member of the Covington Elks Lodge; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Carter was united in love and marriage for 44 years to his lovely wife Libby, and he was surrounded by the love of his three sons, Ronald, Steven, and Gregory, and their families, which include Mr. Carter's adoring grandchildren, Melanie, Andrew, and David; and

WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated provided the foundation and framework of success in which all of his family members have developed and flourished; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Mr. Carter will long be remembered for his love of golf, family, and friendship, and this loyal husband, father, neighbor, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Ronald E. Carter and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. Carter.
