A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Lori Shackleford; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Lori Shackleford has long been recognized for the vital role that she has
played in her community and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the
citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Shackleford is the small business owner of Consider it Done...Your Personal
Assistant, where she utilizes her skills in organization and scheduling to earn
a living; and
WHEREAS,
this kindhearted and magnanimous woman has also developed the Agape Love
Servants (ALS) ministry at First Baptist Church of Woodstock and has inspired
the creation of Lyla's House, a Christian Hospice in Cherokee County;
and
WHEREAS,
after hearing stories of struggle from families in her church congregation
dealing with terminal illness, Mrs. Shackleford was motivated to help and
organized a group of volunteers at the church to assist Lyla and Albert Stone
after he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer; and
WHEREAS,
by ensuring that the everyday tasks that are often overlooked by a family
affected by illness, like yard work, grocery shopping, and other errands, are
completed, Mrs. Shackleford gave the Stones precious time together with less
worry; and
WHEREAS,
after Mr. Stone passed away, Mrs. Shackleford vowed to continue her ministry and
developed ALS in memory and honor of Albert Lee Stone in order to provide
similar services to other members of the church in need; and
WHEREAS,
the ALS ministry has cared for 27 families, has a volunteer base of over 50
dedicated individuals, and has led to the formation of Mrs. Shackleford's second
selfless project inspired by the Stones, Lyla's House, a free Christian hospice;
and
WHEREAS,
the goal of Lyla's House is to seek donations from churches, civic groups,
corporations, foundations, businesses, and individuals in order to provide no
cost, compassionate hospice care to the terminally ill in the name of
Christianity and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of Mrs. Shackleford's vision and generosity, she has been named
TowneLaker
magazine's Pathfinder of the Year; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Shackleford has been united in love and marriage to her best friend,
Charlie, for 24 years and enjoys spending time with her children, Zach, Nich,
Meghan, and daughter-in-law Jenna, and her remarkable dog, Ace; and
WHEREAS,
the benevolent and honorable deeds of this charitable woman serve as a shining
example of volunteerism, and the State of Georgia is honored and blessed to have
Mrs. Shackleford as a citizen.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mrs. Lori Shackleford on her inspiring and glorious work and congratulate her on
the honorable distinction of being named

magazine's Pathfinder of the Year.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Lori Shackleford.
