RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Georgia's sustainable and environmentally friendly businesses and
declaring February 12, 2009, as Sustainable Business Day at the state capitol;
and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
sustainable businesses contribute more than 60,000 jobs and $28 billion to
Georgia's economy; and
WHEREAS,
some of these companies are leading the way for a more sustainable Georgia by
addressing and providing a solution to environmental issues through their
businesses; and
WHEREAS,
many of Georgia's corporations are committed to incorporating sustainable
principles and environmental management systems into their businesses;
and
WHEREAS,
sustainable and environmentally friendly companies generate profits while
creating jobs and revenue for the State of Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Georgia's sustainable businesses for their outstanding corporate citizenship and
commitment to reducing waste and improving air and water quality for all
Georgians and declare February 12, 2009, as Sustainable Business Day at the
state capitol.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to those businesses
participating in Sustainable Business Day.
