RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. J.T. Williams; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. J.T. Williams has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the
vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to
the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he serves as chairman and CEO of Killearn, Inc., a developer of quality golf
course communities in Georgia and Florida, with over 12,000 acres throughout
these states devoted to golf courses, shopping centers, hotels, and residential
and commercial properties; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Williams provides outstanding leadership to Rabun County, Georgia, with his
distinguished service as chairman of the Rabun County Convention and Visitor's
Bureau Authority; and
WHEREAS,
he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state with his
work as chairman of Projects and Planning for the Georgia Regional
Transportation Authority; and
WHEREAS,
his vision, commitment, and direction as chairman of the Rabun County Convention
and Visitor's Bureau Authority has fostered great prosperity and advancements
for the citizens and businesses of Rabun County; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Williams has demonstrated a commitment to the State of Georgia with service
on numerous community boards, including the Development Authority Board of Rabun
County, the North Georgia Metro Water Board, the Georgia Board of Education, the
Hospital Steering Committee in Rabun County, and Henry County Health Systems,
Inc.; and
WHEREAS,
his great service to this state has been recognized by the Georgia General
Assembly which designated a bridge in Henry County as the J.T. Williams Bridge;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Williams has been honored by the Henry County Chamber of Commerce with the
Herman Talmadge Visionary Award for his contributions to the growth and economic
development of Henry County; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Williams is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable
reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and determination, and it is
abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mr. J.T. Williams for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public
service to the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. J.T. Williams.
