A RESOLUTION


Honoring and celebrating the life of Mrs. Ruth Lemacke Grogan; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Ruth Lemacke Grogan was born in Colquitt County, Georgia, in 1910 and is the oldest and only surviving member of her immediate family; and

WHEREAS, she attended school at Pebble City School and Sale City High School; and

WHEREAS, she was united in love and marriage to Hayes Grogan in 1932, and they celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1982 and enjoyed a full and happy marriage until his passing in 1991; and

WHEREAS, they were blessed with six loving children, including three boys and three girls, and had continued blessings in 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, she is a member of Pebble City Baptist Church, where she is still active; and

WHEREAS, she is an excellent cook, enjoys her flowers and still works with them, and has never worked outside the home; and

WHEREAS, she loves her family and enjoys time with them on special holidays; and

WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many, and she possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately honored and celebrated.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Ruth Lemacke Grogan and commend her for 100 years of caring devotion to her family and fellow citizens.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Ruth Lemacke Grogan.
