RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Marcelle Clark Bridgeman on her installation as National
President of Kappa Kappa Iota; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Marcelle Clark Bridgeman was raised in Baldwin County, Georgia, and is the
beloved daughter of Donald and Elsie Clark; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Bridgeman earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Georgia College
and State University and has served as a teacher and media specialist is Baldwin
County for 25 years at Midway Elementary School; and
WHEREAS,
this dedicated educator will be installed as the National President of Kappa
Kappa Iota in June, 2010, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and
WHEREAS,
Kappa Kappa Iota is a national organization of educators founded in 1921 that
unites top educators from a broad cross-section of the country; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Bridgeman has been a member of Kappa Kappa Iota for 20 years and has served
in numerous local, state, and national leadership positions; and
WHEREAS,
her leadership and vision have been instrumental with the establishment of the
Ferst Foundation Early Childhood Literacy Program in Baldwin County, which
places books in the hands of children from birth to five years of age and
provides support to parents in order to increase childhood literacy skills;
and
WHEREAS,
a resident of Milledgeville, Georgia, Mrs. Bridgeman is united in love and
marriage to her husband, Jeff, and she has been blessed with three remarkable
children, Travis, Sarah, and Clark; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mrs. Marcelle Clark Bridgeman on her decades of selfless, efficient, and
effective service to the students of Georgia, recognize the impact she has had
upon countless future leaders in this state, and congratulate her upon her
installation as National President of Kappa Kappa Iota.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Marcelle Clark
Bridgeman.
