A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the Coweta Up In Smoke Barbecue Cook-off as the Georgia State Championship and
final state qualifier in the Florida Barbeque Association Triple Crown
Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Coweta Up In Smoke Barbecue Cook-off is a registered contest of the Florida
Barbecue Association, a prestigious recognition that elevates the Coweta cooking
event to a select group of contests held throughout the United States;
and
WHEREAS,
the Coweta Up In Smoke Barbecue Cook-off is an immensely popular event that
attracts competitors, judges, vendors, musicians, artists, and tourists from all
parts of Georgia as well as throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS,
the contest is the annual fund raiser for Rotary Club of Newnan, and proceeds
from this year's event will benefit the Newnan Rotary Cup scholarship program,
which provides a scholarship to one outstanding student from each of the four
regional high schools: Heritage, Newnan, East Coweta, and Northgate;
and
WHEREAS,
in addition to the barbecue cook-off, the family oriented festival offers live
music, arts and crafts, a variety of events and entertainment and great family
fun for all ages,
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the Coweta Up In Smoke Barbecue
Cook-off in Coweta County is hereby recognized as the annual Georgia State
Championship and final state qualifier in the Florida Barbeque Association
Triple Crown Championship.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Coweta Up In Smoke
Barbecue Cook-off.
