RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Lieutenant Irma C. "Pete" Dryden; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Lieutenant Irma C. "Pete" Dryden has long been recognized by the citizens of
this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep
personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Lt. Dryden was an Amy Nurse Corps (ANC) nurse with the Tuskegee Airmen;
and
WHEREAS,
she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as
evidenced dramatically by her superlative service, which she continues at the
age of 91; and
WHEREAS,
she works to preserve and educate our citizens on the contributions of the
Tuskegee Airmen and Airwomen of World War II by traveling and speaking across
the nation; and
WHEREAS,
Lt. Dryden has a heartfelt patriotism for this country and a passion to help all
youth understand and know that they can accomplish anything they can dream;
and
WHEREAS,
she is being recognized at the "Celebrating Our Military Heritage: Honoring the
Tuskegee Airmen and Airwomen of WWII" event; and
WHEREAS,
she was united in love and marriage to the late Charles "A-Train" Dryden, one of
the original 99th Pursuit Squadron Aviators; and
WHEREAS,
she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she has made
of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Lieutenant Irma C. "Pete" Dryden for her outstanding contributions to her
community and state, and extend their gratitude for her efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated public service.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Lieutenant Irma C. "Pete"
Dryden.
