RESOLUTION
Commending
Ms. Catherine Ariemma, Lumpkin County High School's 2012 STAR Teacher; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most
important objective of the General Assembly; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Catherine Ariemma has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that she has played in the teaching profession and her deep
personal commitment to the education of the students of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Ariemma has earned distinction and numerous awards for teaching excellence
as a result of her dedication to her students and her profession and has been
honored as Lumpkin County High School's 2012 STAR Teacher; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of West Springfield High School in Virginia, Ms. Ariemma earned a
bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee and is certified in social
science education, advanced placement European history, ESOL, gifted education,
and advanced placement United States history; and
WHEREAS,
prior to joining the Lumpkin County High School family, this talented and
dedicated educator taught at Southeast High School in Florida and Cass
Comprehensive High School in Bartow County; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Ariemma has taught social studies at Lumpkin County High School for eight
years, where she has served as the school's gifted coordinator, mock trial
coach, and advanced placement United States history exam reader; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of her contributions to the education and welfare of young people
in this state, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the
extraordinary accomplishments and academic achievements of this outstanding
individual.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body heartily
commend Ms. Catherine Ariemma, Lumpkin County High School's 2012 STAR Teacher,
and express to her their most sincere best wishes for continued success in the
future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Catherine Ariemma.
