RESOLUTION
Recognizing
March 14, 2012, as Concrete Day at the capitol; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
today's value of the Georgia Concrete Industry is $1 billion; and
WHEREAS,
more than 90 percent of the cement used to make the concrete used in Georgia is
made in the United States; and
WHEREAS,
currently 36,000 Georgians rely on the Concrete Industry directly or indirectly
for employment; and
WHEREAS,
every district in the Georgia House and Senate is served by at least one
concrete industry facility; and
WHEREAS,
concrete is the most widely consumed substance on earth, apart from water, is
one of the world's most energy efficient building materials, and is 100 percent
recyclable; and
WHEREAS,
concrete roads allow up to 7 percent greater fuel economy; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the Concrete Industry be appropriately
recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
March 14, 2012, as Concrete Day at the capitol.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the public and the press.
