RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Dot Padgett; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
one of Douglasville's most well-known and well-respected residents, Dot Padgett
was honored with the 2012 Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year
award; and
WHEREAS,
Dot Padgett has been a resident of Douglas County since 1941; and
WHEREAS,
she has been recognized numerous times for coordinating a major presidential
campaign in 1976 and being appointed assistant chief of protocol for the White
House and the U.S. Department of State in 1977; and
WHEREAS,
she is an appointee for the Douglasville Historic Preservation Commission and
the Douglas County Tourism and History Commission, and she is involved with the
Hydrangea Festival, Douglasville's Tour of Homes, and the Douglasville Livable
Centers Committee; and
WHEREAS,
the benevolent and honorable deeds of this woman serve as a shining example to
her community, and the State of Georgia is honored and blessed to have her as a
citizen.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
Dot Padgett for her dedicated service to her community and commend her for
receiving the 2012 Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year
award.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dot Padgett.
