A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mrs. Melissa McKenzie; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Melissa McKenzie has been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in the teaching profession and her deep personal commitment to the education of the students of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. McKenzie is an eighth grade teacher at Oak Hill Middle School in Baldwin County, Georgia, where her enthusiasm and dedication to her students is exemplary of her outstanding personal character; and

WHEREAS, her remarkable patience, diplomacy, and positive work ethic have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues, associates, students, and parents; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. McKenzie is united in love and marriage to her husband, Bob, who is currently serving as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Army and stationed in Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, a true patriot, Mrs. McKenzie is an active volunteer for Delta Company 1-121 infantry, where she serves as the Family Readiness Group chairperson, and is invaluable to the organization's mission of providing an avenue of mutual support, assistance, and communication among family members of military, commanding officers, and community resources; and

WHEREAS, she works tirelessly and unselfishly to provide help and support to soldiers, their families, and their communities; and

WHEREAS, a loving and caring mother of three, Mrs. McKenzie is active with her twins, Meaghan and Macie, Girl Scouts troop, and her son Hunter's aspirations at Georgia Military College; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of her contributions to the students in this state, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize Mrs. Melissa McKenzie for her sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia, commend the positive influence she has had upon the lives and futures of countless young people in this state, and applaud her dedicated work on behalf of military families in Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Melissa McKenzie.
