A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Martin Jones; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, a Conyers resident for 25 years, Marty Jones was elected council member of District 4 in Conyers in 1989 and serves as co-chairman of the Finance Oversight Committee, serves on the Conyers Downtown Development Authority, and is secretary-treasurer of the Development Authority of the City of Conyers; and

WHEREAS, an active member in his community, Mr. Jones is on the Board of Directors of the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, the Board of the Conyers-Rockdale Economic Commission, and is a member of the Conyers Rotary Club; and

WHEREAS, he is also on the Advisory Council of the National League of Cities and is the past chairman of the National League of Cities Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Relations Committee, a past member of the NLC's Board of Directors, a past chairman and member of the Georgia Municipal Association's Revenue and Finance Committee, and served three terms as a member of the GMA's Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Jones received a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he is united in love and marriage to Charlotte Bradford; and

WHEREAS, Martin Jones has proven himself to be an effective leader who has greatly impacted Conyers, Georgia, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that his accomplishments be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize Martin Jones on his leadership in Conyers and his community and commend him for his great public service to Conyers and the State of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Martin Jones.
