A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. George G. Andrews; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. George G. Andrews has accomplished his lifelong dream of meeting the needs
of underserved communities and focused on providing opportunities for small
businesses to access capital needed for business growth and development;
and
WHEREAS,
through the commitment of local churches, individual citizens, businesses, and
community leaders, Mr. Andrews launched Capitol City Bank and Trust Company in
Atlanta, Georgia, in 1994, where he currently serves as President and Chief
Executive Officer; and
WHEREAS,
Black Enterprise
Magazine has listed Capitol City Bank and
Trust Company as the ninth largest minority owned bank in the country;
and
WHEREAS,
an active member in his community, Mr. Andrews serves on several Boards of
Directors, including the Urban Ministerial Alliance and the Metropolitan College
Foundation; and
WHEREAS,
he was appointed by Governor Roy Barnes to serve on the Private Colleges and
Universities Authority Board, was Finance Committee Chair of the City of Atlanta
Fulton County Recreation Authority, was treasurer of the Metropolitan Atlanta
Rapid Transit Authority, served as secretary of the Executive Committee for the
Independent Community Bankers of America, and is former Chairman of the Westside
District Boy Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Andrews is actively involved with the Interdenominational Theological
Center, 100 Black Men of Atlanta, and Community Bankers Association;
and
WHEREAS,
a man of deep and abiding faith, he is a member of the Providence Missionary
Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS,
he is united in love and marriage to Janice Smith and is blessed with three
remarkable children and five wonderful grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished gentleman be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
Mr. George G. Andrews for his foresight, vision, and accomplishments, and
commend his many contributions to the community and the State of
Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. George G. Andrews.
