BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Code Section 20-2-51 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to election of county board of education members, persons ineligible to be
members or superintendent, ineligibility for local boards of education, and
ineligibility for other offices, so as to provide that no person shall serve as
a member of a local board of education unless he or she has completed some
postsecondary education; to provide for applicability; to provide for related
matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Code
Section 20-2-51 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to election
of county board of education members, persons ineligible to be members or
superintendent, ineligibility for local boards of education, and ineligibility
for other offices, is amended by adding a new subsection to read as
follows:
"(g)
No person who has not completed some postsecondary education shall be eligible
for election to or service on a local board of education. This subsection shall
be applicable to persons elected or reelected in elections held after July 1,
2011."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
