A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Code Section 42-9-45 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the general rule-making power of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, so as to provide that the State Board of Pardons and Paroles shall issue a certificate of restoration of voting rights to each person convicted of a felony involving moral turpitude within 30 days following the completion of such person's sentence; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Code Section 42-9-45 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the general rule-making power of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, is amended by adding a new subsection to read as follows:
"(j) The board shall issue a certificate of restoration of voting rights to each person convicted of a felony involving moral turpitude within 30 days following the completion of such person's sentence, including any period of probation or parole, notifying such person that his or her voting rights have been restored by operation of law and advising such person of the procedures to register to vote."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
