A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Part 2 of Article 4 of Chapter 5 of Title 28 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to claims against the state, departments, or agencies, so as to limit the recovery of attorney's fee for certain claims for compensation; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Part 2 of Article 4 of Chapter 5 of Title 28 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to claims against the state, departments, or agencies, is amended by adding a new Code section to read as follows:
"28-5-87.
No claim or resolution for the payment of compensation under this part for a claim involving wrongful conviction, wrongful incarceration, and the subsequent loss of liberty shall include a provision of attorney's fees for more than $250.00."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
