A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Mrs. Odelle Wynelle Robie; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Mrs. Odelle Wynelle Robie on March 30, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Robie was born on May 7, 1925, a beloved daughter of the late Frank and Minnie Neal; and

WHEREAS, she graduated from Washington High School in Atlanta and earned a bachelor's degree in business from Clark College; and

WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Robie was a member of Green County's Spring Creek Baptist Church in her youth, joined Ebenezer Baptist Church while in school, and was an active member of Westhills Presbyterian Church as an adult; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Robie was united in love and marriage to William T. Robie for 64 wonderful years and was blessed with six children, William, Jr., William, Kathy, Clarence, Clara, and Katina; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, she was a Cub and Girl Scout leader for many years and devoted her time, talents, and energy to the Parent Teacher Associations of Anderson Park Elementary School and H.M. Turner High School; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Robie gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated to her family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example she made of her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Mrs. Robie will long be remembered for her love of family and friendship, and this loyal wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing her.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mrs. Odelle Wynelle Robie and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mrs. Odelle Wynelle Robie.
